The historical Salt March started on 12th, March 1930 from Sabarmati Ashram with seventy eight Satyagrahis and Mahatma Gandhi and it ended with Mahatma Gandhi breaking the Salt Law on 6th, April 1930. We have tried with the best of our efforts to recreate the historical March, as close to the original route as possible. The details of this route have flown with the winds that moves the sands of time. The changes in landscape with the cities expanding, the villages shrinking and new infrastructure emerging has made us make certain adjustments to the actual route. This is a collective effort by Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, Government of Gujarat and Gujarat Vidyapith for citizens to learn and relive the history of the fabled Salt March.
